Horse Pond in Plymouth 1000 Area



This Saturday morning we hiked 4 miles in a wide circle around Horse Pond in the Plymouth 1000 area. It was a great morning for a hike.

Hedges Pond 4/18/2013


We hiked around Hedges Pond Thursday morning, enjoying a great sunny morning. In the summer this Town Of Plymouth Recreation Area is a great place for a swim and a short (2mi) hike.

                                




               

The next hike will be:
Saturday, May 18th; Plymouth 1000 area, Horse Pond, about 4 miles some ups and downs. Off Bourne Rd.
We will leave at 9 am from the SBC parking lot.

Lyman Reserve Plymouth/Wareham


Today 12 of us hiked 3 miles in the Lyman Reservation area at the southern edge of Plymouth and Wareham. We touched on Red Brook and Buttermilk Bay (several swans on the bay). It was cool, but we had no rain.                                                                                                                                       
The next hikes will be:
Hedges Pond, Thursday April; 18th. Flat about 2 miles, nice easy hike around pond. Off Long Pond Rd.
Saturday, May 18th; Plymouth 1000 area, Horse Pond, about 4 miles some ups and downs. Off Bourne Rd.

Pine Hills Ridge


Eight of us got a good workout on Saturday morning walking from the bog off Beaver Dam Rd to the Pine Hills ridge, then south along the ridge, past the fire tower, to the Ridge Overlook and back down to the bog. Almost 4 miles.





   

Next hikes:
The next hike will be Thursday March 28th. We will hike around Hedges Pond, just a little over two miles. The hike is mostly flat. Hedges Pond is a great recreation area for the grandkids in the summer.
We will leave at 10 am from the SBC parking lot.
The next hike after that will be on April 13th in the Theodore Lyman Conservation Area in Wareham. It will be a relatively flat 3 miles featuring Red Brook and Buttermilk Bay
For this hike and those following till fall, we will start at 9 am.

Duxbury Round Pond Conservation Area

A dozen of us braved the strong winds and went on a 3.2 mile hike in the Duxbury Round Pond Area. Temperatures rose to 50 deg and the wind was not a problem.

The next hike will be Saturday, Feb. 9th. It will be a Pine Hills hike. We will hike up from the bog off Beaver Dam Road to Manomet Hill, the Fire tower and the ridge overlook, and back down. There are several steep portions in the woods on this 3.7 miles hike.
We will leave at 10 am from the SBC parking lot.
If there is snow we will opt for a flatter hike

Sippewissett Marshes


Just 6 of us walked 3 miles on the Shining Sea Bike path and viewed Great Sippewissett Salt Marsh, Little Sippewissett Marsh, Fresh Pond, Oyster Pond and Harbor.Head.

The December hike will be on Saturday 12/8. We plan to hike the Duxbury Round Pond area. About 3.4 miles, mostly flat, bogs and ponds. We will start at 10 am from the SBC parking lot.
